Links to Other Web Sites of Interest
This page provides links that I share with colleagues, caregivers and parents of children with whom I work to provide helpful information on a variety of subjects. It changes continuously, so check back from time to time and feel free to email me if you have any questions or suggestions for sites to add.
Therapy Materials:
superduperinc.com
Super Duper has a broad source of therapy materials, toys, oral motor supplies, parent/therapist resources and free informative handouts. I use a great deal of their products. They are reasonably priced, you usually get things in 1-2 days and it's always FREE SHIPPING!!
abilitations.com
Abilitations offers widespread "therapist-selected products specifically for children's therapy, special education and special needs". Abilitations offers materials for adaptive equipment, sensorimotor, swim-therapy gear, positioning products and can address your occupational and physical therapy needs as well. Great product descriptions, they have on-site consultation with therapists available and one-year, money back guarantee on every product.
Information:
asha.org
ASHA stands for the American Speech and Hearing Association, which is the national association in which all speech therapists should be certified. It is an excellent resource as a search engine for any speech therapy related question. It has factual, up-to-date information on any area of service that qualified speech therapists are providing in the United States. I recommend that all my parents start researching information at this website before any others.
sensorylearning.com
This is a multi-sensory approach which stimulates the auditory, vestibular and visual systems simultaneously to coordinate those processing areas of the brain. It has been successful for children with diagnosis' of autism, ADHD, sensory integration delays and developmental delays.
autism-society.org
This website is an excellent site for information about children within the autism spectrum and their families.
The Listening Program
"Because listening is such an important aspect of our daily lives, and because our auditory system has such a profound impact on how we function, it is fair to say that anyone could benefit from an auditory stimulation program such as The Listening Program. Specifically TLP was designed for children (ages 2 and older) and adults who have auditory perceptual / processing concerns." -quoted from the website.
